Yes, I wear full-on vintage for job interviews. For some interviews I don't go as all out as others, but this was for a heritage-related job, so I figured I could get away with it. But wearing vintage for job interviews is a topic for another day (probably once I'm employed again).

But this dress is so much more than something to wear. It's a symbol that I have great friends who believe in me. Being unemployed, even when it's no fault of your own, can be really wearing on your nerves and confidence. Sometimes you need a little pick-me-up, whether it's a great dress, red lips or friends to rant with - or in my case, all of the above.
The shoes I'm wearing are my house shoes, and also a gift from Jill. I believe they came to her by way of a costumer who worked on Chicago and she bought them somewhere in the US, but believe it or not they were made in Edmonton - what serendipity!
Other than that, the job hunt is going reasonably well, for someone in my field. I've had two unsuccessful interviews and another on the horizon that I'm feeling very positive about. Feel free to send any extra good vibes you have lying around the house to me!

There's nothing better in life than having great friends. You look fabulous in that dress, and your hair is really pretty! Good luck with the job hunt!
What a beautiful post! I also have a fabulous dress from my best friend that was a gift she brought to me when I was going through a seriously terrible time in my life. It's a little snug in the hips these days but I keep it to remind me of the little blessings in life and the wonderful people who care...and hopefully this summer I will fit into it again!
Great to hear about lovely people helping each other out. Jill is a wonderful lady, and you are too! I'm sure you'll land another great gig very soon here, you're on your way!!
Just as Jill's immensely thoughtful gift brought tears to your eyes, so too did your story about receiving it and how your dear friends have been making you feel during this challenging period in your life. It's a timeless, beautiful garment and I'm sure one that will help bring new job good fortune your way very soon.

That dress is fabulous and you look fabulous in it! I couldn't agree more - timeless. Good luck in the hunt!
Best of luck in your job hunt, I know how incredibly frustrating it can be, fingers crossed something comes up soon :)

this dress is gorgeous, but the history of it even more. good luck
Gorgeous outfit. Attractive and smart so perfect for an interview. I always wear full vintage/vintage inspired to interviews - well to work and everywhere for that matter! I always think if they have such a problem with it that they don't pick me for the job then great, this is not the narrow minded kind of place I want to be working anyway. You have to spend so much time at work I think it is importnat to feel comfortable and not to feel like you have to be a completely different person. I am always smart and appropraitely dressed for work. I may have red hair but I don't wear mini skirts showing my knickers... something some modern dressers round here might want to think about!! ;) Good luck, I am a great believer these things are meant to be. Have patience it will pay off!! xoxo
What a great idea!
I was seriously skeptic on purchasing an expensive dress online, however for the price I was left with no option. However the dress was spot on. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever saw.
